Family rescues injured pigeon, but instead of flying away, he raises their baby bunnies for 2 years and becomes the step-dad who stepped up (Video)

Some animals just know to answer the call when they see babies in need. Hoomans could learn a thing or two from the kindness of the animals we see on the internet. And it's not just the example below, Cheezburger is pawsitively full of animals stepping up to raise babies of other species. We've got massive doggos that raise seriously smol kittens, cats raising otters, and a whole bunch of other duos to bring heartwarming tears to your hooman eyes. But today, we've got an especially unusual couple, one that you might never think to pair together. A pigeon, and some baby bunnies.

Pigeons don't have the best reputation. In fact, they're known for being the worst nest-builders in the whole avian species and not pawticularly intelligent. However, after being rescued by a family, this pigeon decided to stick around and help out. Instead of flying away and continuing his pigeon life, he stayed to help raise their baby bunnies, who now treat him like their father. It's absolutely pawdorable, so watch the full video below!

  • Two years! This dad is really dad-icated to raising his bunny babies. We thought pigeons had the attention span of about three seconds. But this guy stayed around and cared for them every day. What a good guy!

    inn3rspace Glad to see a pigeon being treated so well! I saw something saying how we used to use them so much and trained them to do so many things for us and we cared for them like we do dogs now, and then one day when we didn't need them anymore we cast them aside and people even call them "trash birds" but they are so so smart and capable of so much love and they deserve love and respect for all they have done for the human race!♥ (our first mailmen)❤

  • Pawsonally, we would never own a bird because we believe they should be able to fly. But maybe a rescue bird who couldn't fly we could handle. All birdos deserve some love!
